Musculoskeletal System

The Musculoskeletal system is more than scaffolding, it is the hinges and pulleys, externally it supports, absorbs, propels, internally it pumps, squashes and moves.

It does more than help us move through and command space, it facilitates the rest of our internal system.

  • The neurological system made up of the brain and spinal cord, the peripheral nervous system, the parasympathetic and sympathetic system. It commands, controls and regulates the other systems in our bodies.

Being housed by the musculoskeletal system, it can become obstructed by it, we might refer to this as a “trapped nerve”, or it can lead to over or under stimulation of our autonomic nervous system, leading to exaggerated symptoms in the other body systems.

  • The wonderous immune system, with its many layers and players. It includes the layer of bacteria on our skin inside and out, the well known cells in the white of our blood, the lesser known community of cytokines performing fundamental tasks of our bodies existence.

Fundamentally, the body is healthy if it is able to get enough nutrition, hydration, rest, stimulation and elimination. The immune system’s main role in our health is keeping our internal environment clean, and this relies on our lympatics ability to mobilise. So, the musculoskeletal system which houses, pumps and facilitates the lymphatics, is also imperative to the effective function of the immune system through the lymphatics.

  • Digestion, how our body exists, grows and persists. We are the nutrition we provide.

Digestion relies not only on the powerful acid, enzymes, and the micro biome, but the mechanical ability of the organs that make up the system. If the mechanical role of our intestines in particular is compressed and strained by our musculoskeletal system, this will impact the bodies ability to process the nutrients we provide.

  • The Gynaecological system, the magical home of life. The potential unappreciated or unknown role the musculoskeletal system has on the monthly cycle and pregnancy is tremendous.

Muscle and joint strains can easily exasperate monthly symptoms and complicate pregnancy.

  • The highway of the body, how we transport everything all of us need and help remove what we don't.

It feeds and drains all of us, and therefore our musculoskeletal system both relies on and supports its constant task.
